Creating Connections is a project funded by British Council’s International Collaboration Grants which are designed to support UK and overseas organisations to collaborate on international arts projects. Building on the previous collaborative practice of Wanda Moretti / Il Posto (Venice, Italy), Kate Lawrence / VDKL (Nant Peris, North Wales) and Lindsey Butcher / Gravity & Levity (Brighton, England), Creating Connections draws on the participatory spirit and inventiveness of experimental dance work undertaken in 1970’s New York that laid the foundations for vertical dance.  Using task-based approaches, e.g. those developed by Trisha Brown, Simone Forti, Robert Morris, we address questions around participation and inclusion in our practice; of including different publics in our work. Across three meetings, aerial design artist Mish Weaver will respond with simple propositions. The objects introduced will be designed to encourage cooperation, trust, playful exploration and support, to create a tangible outcome.
